For one whole week next July, 7-15, Big Dance, the world’s biggest dance initiative, returns to London as part of the London 2012 Festival.
Whatever age, experience or dancing ability, participants from all over the world are invited to put on their dancing shoes and dive into the Big Dance 2012, a fun festival of dance-related events taking place across London.
Since it began in 2006, more than 2 million people have taken part in Big Dance. There will be events taking place on the Big Dance bus, in performances spaces all over London, and in unusual locations – from shopping centers and swimming pools to bridges and bunkers.
Big Dance is coordinated by five of London’s leading dance organizations: East London Dance; English National Ballet; Greenwich Dance; Sadler’s Wells; Siobhan Davies Dance.
One of the highlights of this year’s program is a mass dance performance by 2.000 dancers in Trafalgar Square – led by the resident choreographer of The Royal Ballet, Wayne McGregor. Other highlights include a large-scale performance by Dancing Voices, Big Dance’s dance program for older people.
